Planning for pollinators

CPSG’s Director of Training Jamie Copsey is working alongside Planner Development Path mentees in the UK to support conservation planning for the shrill carder bee (Bombus sylvarum). With our support, organizations like Bumble Bee Conservation Trust and Buglife, among others, are leading efforts to conserve the species. We’ve developed a more thorough analysis of local threats and are in the process of setting up a multi-stakeholder planning workshop for the fall.

The shrill carder bee is widely distributed across Europe. But, like many pollinator species across the globe, it is in decline, especially in the UK, where it is now restricted to six locations in England and Southern Wales.
